Old students of Islamic High School, Basorun, Ibadan, have pledged not to relent in developing their alma mater and taking it to great heights.
The new national president of the Islamic High School Old Students Association (IHSOSA), Dr. Bayo Busari, made the pledge last weekend at the bi-annual convention and Annual General Meeting of the association held at the premises of the school in Basorun, Ibadan, Oyo State.
At the event, where the new national executive committee of the association was inaugurated, Dr. Busari promised to sustain the development programs embarked upon by successive administrations.
“The new executive committee shall make efforts to sustain the laudable developmental programs embarked upon by the previous administrations. We will also renew our efforts towards the completion of the pacesetting stride made by the outgoing executive committee on the L.A.B. Adigun Alumni Centre project.
“It is our hope that the project will take off within the first quarter of 2024. The same energy shall be deployed to actualize the dream of the information and communication technology center in due course,” he said.
Dr. Busari, who is the Postgraduate Coordinator in the Mass Communication Department at Lead City University, Ibadan, promised to strengthen the existing scholarship program and support the school’s library for easy access to educational resources by both students and teachers.
He added: “We are going to liaise with critical stakeholders to ensure the posting of quality teachers and NYSC members to complement the staff strength of the school.
“The school’s environment shall also be given a facelift to make it attractive and conducive to teaching and learning. Not only this, all past leadership of the association will be accorded due recognition in a hall of fame to be established soon.”
The outgoing national president, Mr. Zubair Popoola, acknowledged the members’ commitment, financial and otherwise, and stressed the need for the old students to give back to their alma mater.
He expressed happiness over the number of executed projects during his tenure and assured the new executive committee of adequate support.
Other members of the new national executive committee are Zubair Muftau (Vice President), Mr. Adesina Lawal (National Secretary), Mr. Ishola Quadri (Financial Secretary), Bello Ismail (Treasurer), Olubisi Davies-Ojo (PRO), Yetunde Ayodele-Ojo (Social Secretary), Mrs. Yetunde Emmanuel (Assistant Secretary), Shu’ara Popoola (Ex Officio 1), and Ladeji Abideen Lasun (Ex-Officio 2).
