The Ogudu Oshadi of Ogombo Kingdom in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, Oba Muslim Abiodun Ogunbo, has extolled the progressive initiatives of young Nigerian developer Prince Kolade Afeez Siyanbola Oladigbolu, describing them as crucial for sustainable community growth and the future of local development in Nigeria.
The monarch made these remarks during a welcoming ceremony for a delegation from Royal Colony Homes, led by its Managing Director, Prince Oladigbolu, accompanied by Mr Charles Omilani, a partner, and Engr. Taiwo Ladigbolu, the company’s Project Manager, at his palace in Ogombo.
Oba Ogunbo praised Prince Oladigbolu, an Oyo royal family member and former top contender for the Alaafin of Oyo stool, as a visionary leader and investor with a deep interest in community development, commending his passion for cultural preservation, youth empowerment, and grassroots advancement.
Reflecting further, Oba Ogunbo lauded Oladigbolu for recently joining other well-meaning thought leaders in calming public tensions surrounding the reported disagreement between two revered Yoruba monarchs, the Alaafin of Oyo and the Ooni of Ife, widely discussed in the media and on social platforms.
The monarch stressed that such collaborative efforts demonstrated Oladigbolu’s commitment to unity, respect for tradition, and preservation of harmony among Yoruba institutions.
The monarch also lauded the delegation’s visit as a timely demonstration of commitment to local growth, emphasising that such private sector initiatives complement efforts by traditional rulers in fostering meaningful community development.
In his response, Prince Oladigbolu expressed sincere gratitude for the monarch’s fatherly support, noting that the partnership between Royal Colony Homes and Ogombo Kingdom would open new chapters of progress.
“Your Majesty’s warm reception is not merely hospitality; it is an endorsement of our vision to collaborate in transforming this community through sustainable housing,” he affirmed.
Addressing the balance between culture and development, Oladigbolu stated, “As we build modern infrastructures, we remain deeply committed to honouring our heritage. True progress means preserving our cultural identity, which forms the foundation upon which thriving communities are built.”
Clarifying Royal Colony Homes’ mission, he explained the company’s dedication to creating estates aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11 (SDG 11), which aims to “make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.”
He highlighted that their projects address challenges such as inadequate housing, poor urban planning, and the provision of affordable, dignified living spaces. “Our mission is to deliver homes that embody dignity and sustainability, improving the quality of life for families in Ogombo and beyond,” he added.
Prince Oladigbolu also emphasised youth engagement as a key focus, stating, “The future of any community rests with its young people. We will intentionally create opportunities for jobs, skills development, and mentorship through our projects, empowering the youth of Ogombo to lead tomorrow.”
He concluded by assuring a long-term commitment to collaboration: “This is just the beginning of a journey with Ogombo Kingdom. Together with the palace, elders, and youths, we will make Ogombo a model of how tradition and modern housing can coexist and thrive.”
