Less than two hours after the swearing-in of 19 new commissioners into his cabinet, Governor Monday Okpebholo, on Tuesday created additional ten ministries in Edo State, bringing to 28 in total.

Governor Okpenholo who has previously sworn-in 10 commissioners into his executive also made minor reshuffling in his cabinet and restructured the state ministries.

While Barr. Samson Osagie was replaced by Prof. Roland Otaru, SAN, as Commissioner of Justice, and Barr. Paul Ohonbamu who was replaced by Prince Kassom Afegbua as Commissioner for Information and Communication was moved to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

In a statement issued by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Barr. Umar Ikhilor, the Governor said that decision was informed by the need to have a seamless alignment of his SHINE Agenda with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

The statement said: “In view of this strategic positioning, the Governor has approved the creation of additional Ministries and the revival of some defunct ones, bringing the total number of Ministries in Edo State to twenty-eight (28).

“This strategic reform is designed to mirror the structure at the Federal level and ensure the seamless alignment of the Governor’s SHINE Agenda with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“This restructuring aims to enhance administrative efficiency, improve coordination across critical sectors, and strengthen the capacity of Government to deliver effectively on its mandate to the people of Edo State.”

The Commissioners and their ministries are; Ministry of Works (Dr.Felix Ehiguese Akhabue); Ministry of Mining (Hon. Andrew Ijegbai); Ministry of Information and Strategy (Prince Kassim Afegbua); Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs (Hon. Paul Ohonbamu); Ministry of Business, Trade and Investment (Omoh Anabor); Ministry of Power (Barr. Usenbo Ehigie).

Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (Dr. Jerry Uwangue); Ministry of Livestock Development (Prof. Omorodion Ikponwosa); Ministry of Environment and Sustainability (Barr.Nosa Adams); Ministry of Health (Dr. Cyril Oshiomhole); Ministry of Education (Dr. Emmanuel Iyamu); Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development (Dr. Lucky Eseigbe)! Ministry of Lands and Housing (Hon. Yakubu Musa).

Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy (Ohimai Ehijimetor); Ministry of Science and Technology (Hon. Etin-Osa Ogbeiwi); Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation (Dr. Washington Osifo); Ministry of Youth Affairs (Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo); Ministry of Women Affairs (Eugenia Abdallah); Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (Barr. Marie Idaomi);

Others are Ministry of Oil and Gas Resources- (Barr.) Vincent Uwadiae); Ministry of Finance- (Engr. Emmanuel Okoebor); Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning- (Dr. Elizabeth Ebosele); Ministry of Transportation- (Hon. Saturday Idehen); Ministry of Justice- (Prof. Roland Otaru, SAN); Ministry of Labour and Productivity- (Godwin Eshieshi); Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations- Hon. (Barr. Kenneth Ihensekhien), and Ministry of Public Security and Safety- (Hon. Ebea Odianosen).
