Speaking at the commendation service of the founder and general overseer of Overcomers Bible Church Incorporated, the late Archbishop Alexander Ezeugo Ekewuba, at the Heroes Square, Owerri over the weekend, Okoroacha stated that Ekewuba did not die, but only transited to glory as he never betrayed his calling as a cleric.
He said: “When great men die, they become bigger in name and people appreciate them the more. Our Lord Jesus Christ did not die, but transited to glory. It takes great people to transit to glory. Ezeugo has many great sons and daughters, who will continue his good works and so, he has not died but transited to glory.
“I urge witnesses to this celebration of life to follow in his footsteps and exemplary lifestyle. Ezeugo was persecuted for many years because people did not understand him, but today, the story is different and even the heavens celebrate one of their own,” he stated.
The governor also inaugurated the Ezeugo Foundation in memory of the late archbishop and charged the church and family to keep his name alive.
A senior member of the church and former vice chancellor of Imo State University, Professor B.E.B. Nwoko, on behalf of the church and family, thanked the governor for coming in person to honour the late Ezeugo.
