Ojukwu varsity VC seeks stakeholders’ collaboration to address climate change

The Acting Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Igbariam, Anambra State, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, has urged relevant stakeholders to strengthen collaborations to find solutions to challenges of climate change in the University, Anambra and the country at large.

Omenugha made the call on Saturday, in Awka, during a roadshow to inform the public about the University’s forthcoming July 17th, 2024 Tree Planting/Climate Change Action Summit.

The Ag. VC said the University and Nigeria like other countries of the world are seriously affected by the problem of climate change, and the effects are most felt on food security, full access to energy, and high unemployment, among others.

According to her, under my watch, we are making a statement to the whole world that COOU is a University to welcome with. It is a University that is cautious about its environment. We are determined to take back our environment. It is a Green University which is why we are planting 1 million trees including economy trees that will also serve as sheld to the Institution.

“Strengthening the involvement of this stakeholder within the overall context of advancing the sustainable environment and socio-economic development is therefore critical.

Prof Omenugha called on other state governors to emulate Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision of making Anambra a clean, green, livable, and prosperous state in Nigeria.
