A former Presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections and immediate past President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Dr. Sam Ohuabunwa has been announced as the President of the 2024 Leadership Agenda Summit.

The Executive Chairman of the Summit, Dr Brian Reuben, disclosed this in a statement signed and made available to Journalists.

According to Reuben, the summit brings together global thought leaders and provides a vibrant and dynamic platform for collaboration, ideas exchange, and innovative problem-solving.

The statement read, “Mazi Dr. Sam Ohuabunwa has been announced as the President of the highly anticipated 2024 Leadership Agenda Summit, scheduled to take place on the 30-31 of January 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria. This prestigious event serves as a crucial platform for leaders from across the world to convene and engage in essential discussions surrounding pressing global challenges.

“Dr. Ohuabunwa’s extensive experience and notable achievements make him the perfect candidate to lead this influential program. Having graduated from Columbia University, he joined Pfizer as a Sales Representative in 1978. Dr. Ohuabunwa rapidly climbed the corporate ladder and ultimately became the Managing Director and Chief Executive at Pfizer in Nigeria, where he served with distinction. In 1997, he successfully led a management buy-over of Pfizer’s 60% equity investments, founding Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc, an indigenous company that exists in Nigeria to this day. His remarkable leadership in the pharmaceutical industry earned him recognition and respect.

“Throughout his career, Dr. Ohuabunwa has held several key leadership positions within professional bodies and government agencies. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Pharmaceutical Society and presently Chairman of the same esteemed body. Dr. Ohuabunwa is also the foundation President of the West African Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association and was the Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria. With his extensive knowledge and expertise, he has been a member of various influential committees and boards, including the Presidential Committee on vision 2010 and Vision 2020 national development plans, Nigerian Health Insurance Scheme, and the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P).

“By accepting the prestigious position of President for the 2024 Leadership Agenda Summit, Dr. Ohuabunwa demonstrates his unwavering commitment to fostering effective leadership strategies, promoting inclusivity, and empowering individuals to reach their full potential. The summit aims to address complex global issues such as energy transition, trade, technology, and conflicts, including the war in Ukraine and the situation in Israel, with the goal of shaping a better future for all.”

It added, “The Leadership Agenda Summit 2024 will provide a vibrant and dynamic platform for collaboration, idea exchange, and innovative problem-solving. Esteemed experts, influential policymakers, prominent business figures, and renowned academics will come together to share their insights and experiences, offering fresh perspectives and actionable strategies for navigating the rapidly evolving global landscape.

“The program for the summit will feature thought-provoking panel discussions, engaging keynote speeches, and interactive workshops. Participants can expect an intellectually stimulating environment where ideas and solutions can be explored and further developed. By prioritizing the concept of inclusive leadership that empowers everyone to be their best, the summit endeavours to inspire positive transformations at both individual and collective levels.
