The member representing Ijebu Central federal constituency of Ogun State in the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Adeleke Ogunbanwo, has launched a programme tagged ‘Back to the farm’, in a bid to revitalise agricultural activities and support local farmers.
The empowerment initiative provided cash grants and farming tools to over 1,500 constituents by equipping them with the necessary resources to boost food productivity and ensure sustainable farming practices.
The main objective of the programme was to enhance food security, increase crop yields and improve food availability in the community.
Ogunbanwo said that this will also stimulate local economy by providing financial support to farmers and enabling them to reinvest in their agricultural ventures.
The programme meant to promote sustainable farming by equipping farmers with modern equipment and techniques to ensure environmental friendly practices.
The lawmaker further said that the key components of the empowerment programme included cash grants to comstituents, particularly farmers to meet their needs like purshasing seeds, fertilizer, sprayers and other essential inputs.
The ‘Back to farm’ programme is a collaborative effort, with stakeholders emphasising the importance of returning to agriculture as a means of self-sufficiency and prosperity.
The lawmaker added that through the programme, farmers can access the necessary resources with ease to thrive in their farming activities, thereby stimulating the local economy and contributing to the community’s overall development.
