THE Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC) has commiserated with the state council and national headquarters of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) over the death of the state chairman of the union, Mr Soji Amosun and the National Assembly correspondent of Vanguard newspapers, Mr Tordue Salem.
In a statement by its Secretary-General, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde, OMC said Salem’s unclear cause of death called for concern.
The council advocated a life insurance policy for media practitioners by their employers and media owners to enhance objective and truthful media practice for the betterment of the nation.
“Both members of the Fourth Estate passed on at a time media reportage is making a credible impact in the development of human race.
“We pay special tributes to the duo for contributing their quotas to the advancement of the press as the watch dog of the society,” the OMC stated.
It urged members of the NUJ in Ogun State to honour the late Amosu by resolving their differences amicably and forging a formidable union.
