The Yayi Progressives Movement, a leading political group, has appreciated President Bola Tinubu, the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and other political bigwigs in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, for supporting the emergence of Senator Solomon Adeola as the consensus governorship candidate of the party in the 2027 elections.
The Convener of the group, Armstrong ‘Tope Akintunde, in a statement issued and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, on Tuesday, by the group’s State Director of Media and Publicity, Oluseun Joshua, described Senator Adeola’s emergence as well-deserved.
Akintunde lauded President Tinubu for his fatherly role in backing Adeola’s candidacy, as well as Governor Abiodun for supporting his emergence as a successor ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The convener cited Senator Adeola’s long-standing commitment to progressive politics and his contributions to the development of his senatorial district.
According to him, the choice of Senator Adeola as the party’s consensus candidate underscores his popularity and credibility within the APC in Ogun State.
“The emergence of our leader as the APC consensus governorship candidate in Ogun State is expected, given his outstanding record of service, particularly in Ogun West Senatorial District.
“I sincerely appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the leader of our great party, for supporting the aspiration of Ogun West to produce the next governor of the state.
“Historically, Ogun West has not produced a governor since the creation of the state. This development reflects fairness and inclusiveness. I also commend Governor Dapo Abiodun for making this possible during his tenure.”
Akintunde added that the development signal is a continuation of progressive governance in Ogun State, similar to the “Lagos model” of sustained development and transformation. He called on residents of the state to support Adeola’s candidacy in the forthcoming election.
In the same vein, the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN) equally applauded APC for adopting a consensus approach in its recent political arrangements.
The move, ACOMORAN, is described as a sign of unity, maturity, and strategic leadership.
In a statement released by the state chairman of the association, Comrade Kayode Showunmi, ACOMORAN lauded the leadership of the party for prioritising peace and cohesion over internal rivalry.
The group noted that the consensus agreement reflects a shared commitment to stability and progress within the party, which ultimately benefits the people of Ogun State and Nigeria at large.
The state chairman particularly hailed the emergence of Senator Olamilekan Adeola as a product of the consensus arrangement.
According to ACOMORAN, Senator Adeola’s emergence is well-deserved, considering his track record of service, grassroots connection, and dedication to good governance and his progressive antecedents.
Comrade Kayode Showunmi expressed confidence that Senator Adeola’s leadership will bring renewed energy and purposeful direction to the party, while also strengthening its chances in future political contests.
The group added that his experience in legislative matters and his commitment to development make him a suitable choice for the responsibility ahead.
The association further appreciate the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun and other stakeholders for ensuring seamless transition that produced the consensus candidate while urging party members and stakeholders to rally behind the consensus decision, emphasising that unity remains the key to sustainable political success. It also called on the people of Ogun State to continue supporting leaders who demonstrate capacity and a genuine interest in public service.
