Four industries were sealed up by the Ogun State Government through the Environmental Protection Agency over environmental infractions.
This was contained in a statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune by the agency’s information officer, Segun Adebesin, in Abeokuta,on Wednesday.
The affected industries were Fortune Height Farms Limited and Sanda Wood Industry Limited, both in Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State.
While others are Shengceramic Material Limited in the Ogere axis along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway and Nehemiah Grace Developer Limited, along Ijako, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA), Hon. Farouk Akintunde, who doubles as the Chairman, Ogun State Task Force on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, said that Fortune Height Farms Limited which was into production of eggs and catfish got sealed after a petition was received from its immediate community for discharging untreated influence into the environment.
While Sanda Wood Industry Limited was sealed for denying government officials access to its facility and engaging in open burning, explaining further that, Nehemiah Grace Developer Limited was also sealed for encroaching on the waterways and constructing drainage without a permit.
Akintunde said, “Ogun State government will not fold its hand and allow these industries to violate our environmental laws,” he said.
