THE Presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held on Friday, was generally peaceful across the 236 wards in the state.
The election monitored by Saturday Tribune was devoid of rancour and chaos as party faithful turned out in the large numbers to elect President Muhammadu Buhari, as the sole candidate for the position in the 2019 elections.
At Ward 12 and 13 Igbore, in Abeokuta South Local Government, members of the party conducted themselves in a peaceful manner throughout the exercise.
Addressing party members, a leader of the party in the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba, commended the outcome of the primaries in his ward and urged eschewed violence in the remaining primaries.
He advocated for continuity in governance in the state, submitting that he had no preferred candidate among the six aspirants eyeing the seat of the governor on the platform of the party.
Osoba said, “The exercise was very peaceful and orderly. This is an indication that all other primaries will go on smoothly.

“I have come here today to preach unity to our members. They should embrace peace and forget all differences that might have had in the past. We must learn a serious lesson from Osun. We must not be disunited. We must go into all races as one family and whoever emerges must become our official candidate of all of us irrespective of the position or age.
“We must accept whoever emerges as flagbearer at all levels. Not only for the governorship but also senatorial, House of Representatives and the state assembly. We must all go out and we must not allow the opposition to return.”
It was the same scenario at Ward 2, Ijebu-Ife in Ijebu-East Local Government as members of the party unanimously voted for the candidature of Buhari.
A member of the party, Mr Wale Adedayo, moved the motion that Buhari should be elected as the party’s presidential candidate.
Also speaking, on the peaceful conduct of the exercise in Imasayi ward in Yewa North area of the state, Alhaji Raheem Ajayi, said members of the party cast 596 votes to elect PMB as the candidate.
