The ongoing rehabilitation of Takie/Caretaker axis of the federal road in Ogbomoso is commendable. When it is completed, the incessant vehicular accidents would be reduced. The axis had become a death-trap before the rehabilitation. We are however appealing to the government to extend the repair work to Arinkinkin area. Doing that will obviate danger posed by the remaining failed portions of the road.
Also, it is natural that solution to one problem may be the creation of another. The diversion of all vehicles especially tankers and other articulated vehicles to Baptist High School/LAUTECH Teaching Hospital road has completely damaged the five kilometer road. When the state governor visited Ogbomoso recently, he promised to construct a flyover for the town. We suggest that the flyover project be suspended while the dualisation of the badly damaged Baptist High School/LAUTECH Teaching Hospital road should commence immediately.
When this is done, the people of southern Ogbomoso will feel a sense of belonging and their ‘modus vivendi’ will change for the better. This is so because the people have been neglected for a long time.
Adelani Obada, Ogbomoso
