Former Senate Committee Chairman on Sports, Obinna Ogba, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the immediate take-off of the Federal University of Sports, Nkalagu, in the Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Ogba, who served as the Chairman of Sports during the 9th Assembly and represented Ebonyi Central Zone from 2015 to 2023, sponsored the bill for the establishment of the sports university during his time in the Senate.
He praised Governor Francis Nwifuru for his efforts in ensuring President Tinubu’s approval of the institution. Ogba noted that the university will attract development, create employment opportunities, and reduce crime and other vices in the country.

“I am pleased with the development of the bill approved by the National Assembly and assented to by President Muhammadu Buhari in May 2023.
“I want to commend Governor Francis Nwifuru for his efforts in securing the president’s approval for the university’s take-off.
“I am very grateful to President Buhari, President Tinubu, and Governor Nwifuru for their immense contributions. This university will significantly benefit the economy of Ebonyi and Nigeria, as it is the first of its kind in West Africa. People from other countries will attend this school.”
“This university will bring development, create employment opportunities, and contribute positively to both the state and the nation.”
Recall that President Tinubu approved the immediate take-off of the university in Ebonyi on July 23, 2024.
