Senator Joel-Onowakpo, who welcomes the defectors to the APC, described the decision of Governor Oborevwori as historic, saying that it was a new dawn for the people of Delta State.

He charged members of the APC to welcome the defectors with open hands in the spirit of camaraderie, saying the move will strengthen the party.

“Today marks a historic moment for Delta State and Nigeria as a whole! I warmly welcome His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State, and all members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

“This bold step signifies a turning point in our state’s political history, ushering in a new era of unity, development, and progressive governance. As a leader of APC in Delta State and Senator representing Delta South, I reassure our supporters and members that this move strengthens our collective resolve to deliver dividends of democracy.

“In line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, we must prioritize unity and collaboration. I urge all APC faithful to welcome Governor Oborevwori and incoming members with open arms and a spirit of camaraderie. Our unity is our strength, and together, we’ll deepen democratic ideals and policy directions that serve Deltans’ best interests.

“This new chapter sets the stage for greater collaboration, impactful governance, and a more inclusive political process. We’ll build a Delta State that reflects the aspirations of all her people. I commit to playing my part in ensuring this vision becomes reality.

“I congratulate Governor Oborevwori and all new APC members on this unprecedented move. Together, we’ll write a new chapter in Delta State’s history,” the statement read.
