The wife of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Mrs Betsy Obaseki, will on Friday unveil the logo for the maiden edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament at the new Banquet Hall, Government House, Benin City.
A statement issued by the Head, Media and Communication Committee, Comrade Ebomhiana Musa, on Wednesday, stated that the maiden edition of the women football tournament would from September 26 through October 3, 2021, with 12 clubs from across the country invited to participate in the tournament.
The tournament, amongst others, the statement added, is aimed at encouraging women football in Nigeria and prepare the various clubs to put them in top shape for the take-off of the new league season.
In line with the pet project of Edo State First Lady, the tournament is also aimed at pulling out adult females from the streets, especially those who show talents for football.
