Obaseki’s administration unparalleled in Edo’s history

As the Edo State Godwin Obaseki administration winds down, the Commissioner for Roads and Bridges, Ethan Uzamere, has asserted that what the outgoing administration did as landmark achievements in its eight-year tenure remained unparalleled in the history of the state.

Uzamere made the assertion when his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) members from his constituency in Ovia South-West Local Government Area, hosted him at a grand reception and awarded him a plaque of honour for his meritorious service to the state.

Thanking the organisers of the reception for the honour, Uzamere said: “It’s a very emotional moment for me. A big thanks to the organisers. Everybody here has had an impact on my life. I want to thank Governor Godwin Obaseki for the opportunity he gave me to showcase myself.

“My experience in government as an appointee has taught me a lot. I will always be there for Governor Obaseki. What we did in the last eight years has never been done before.”

In his own submission, Prince Benjamin Iyase, a leader of the PDP in Ovia South-West Local Government Area, said that Uzamere’s name is synonymous with success.

He recalled that in 2020 when Uzamere was the Chief of Staff to Governor Obaseki, the party, which was least expected to perform well at the gubernatorial polls, scored much higher votes than it was projected to score.

“Now, with Ethan being a commissioner, we won this year’s election. It’s not an error that we’re celebrating him. We shall reclaim our mandate. He has touched many lives.

“We pray that the sky will continue to be his limit. He will be counted among the best commissioners in this outgoing administration.”

Chairman of Ovia South West Local Government Council, Edosa Enowoghomwenma, disclosed that Uzamere was the unseen hand behind the most laudable projects in the locality.

He stressed that he got the wise counsel of the outgoing commissioner in most things he did.

Wesley Asoro, proprietor of Wesley Hotel, a hospitality concern situated in the heart of the GRA, Benin City, asserted, “The whole Edo State, not only Ovia South West Local Government Area, is proud of you. God will take you to a higher position.”

One after the other guests poured encomium on Uzamere, whom they described as an enigma and political colossus.

The highlight of the day was the award of a plaque for meritorious service to Engr. Uzamere, whose father, Senator Ehigie Uzamere, witnessed the memorable occasion.
