There is controversy over the claim by the Osun State police command that the body of Timothy Adegoke, a Masters student at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), who was allegedly killed at Hilton Hotel Ile-Ife, was taken to the morgue at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife for autopsy.
Recall that the public relations officer of the command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola, last Thursday, said on air at Rave FM radio station, Osogbo, that Adegoke’s corpse had been deposited at the OAUTHC and that no part of his body was removed after being killed as claimed in some quarters.
However, the OAUTHC Public Relations Officer, Kemi Fasooto, however, insisted the deceased was not brought to the hospital.
The statement issued on Saturday read in part that “The attention of the management of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife has been drawn to some publications on several social media platforms claiming that the body of the deceased was brought to the morgue of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex for autopsy.
“Please we want to state, as a matter of fact, that the body of the deceased was never deposited in our hospital for any coroner case.
“Our hearts and prayers go to the Adegoke family. May God give them the fortitude to bear the weight of this difficult time.
