THE nation’s outdoor advertisers, under the aegis of the Outdoor Advertisers Association of Nigeria (OAAN), have unveiled announced plans to hold the association’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) programme, where it will elect its new set of leadership.
One of the highlights of the event, scheduled for June 21st, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, will be the dissolution of the incumbent executive council of the association, led by Mr.Babatunde Adedoyin and the election of a new set of leadership, that would steer the ship of the association for the next two years.
There is every indication that the association’s incumbent Vice President, Mr. Emma Ajufo may take over the reins of power from Mr. Adedoyin, who will be completing his second term, at the meeting, which is the association’s 34th in the series.
While there seems to be no opposition to others vying for elective offices, the incumbent Publicity Secretary of the association, Mr. Femi Ogala, who has indicated his interest in the association’s number two office of the association, would have Mrs. Ify Onukwuba, another strong member of the association, to contend with.
According to the Chairman of the association’s Electoral Committee, Mr. Wole Odunbanjo, 13 out of the 14 members, already cleared, are expected to return unopposed since there are no oppositions to their bids.
Speaking on the AGM, the Publicity Secretary of the association, Mr. Ajufo, expressed the belief that it would avail members the opportunity to discuss strategic repositioning of the outdoor business.
“We are hoping to make some landmark adoption from the meeting, including reviewing our activities and the financials of the outgoing business year as a body,” he added.
The association’s outgoing president, Mr. Adedoyin believes the AGM is strategic; since it will offer an opportunity for robust deliberation with a view to finding lasting solution to the challenges facing the outdoor industry in Nigeria.
“There are a number of issues that are very strategic to the future of the industry that are primed for consideration at the meeting. For example, reviews of regulations guiding the body, adoption and upgrade of new members and more importantly, setting the pace for the future of the profession in Nigeria,” he added.
