Nutritious spaghetti Bolognese

SPAGHETTI Bolognese is super easy and a true Italian classic with a meaty, chilli sauce.

Spaghetti Bolognese is a type of spaghetti with meat sauce. It can be a nutritious dish when consumed in moderation and incorporated into a nutrient-dense diet that is balanced with physical activity. With a few substituition , basic spaghetti Bolognese can even be healthier or transformed into a dish appropriate for individuals with special dietary needs.

Everyone needs a great everyday spaghetti Bolognese recipe. This Bolognese sauce is rich, thick and has beautiful depth of flavour. This is a staple recipe you will love to make over and over again.

It goes well with crusty garlic bread and mozzarella with tomato and chilli salsa.

 

Ingredients

Olive oil

Finely chopped onions

Ground beef

Dried oregano

Can of crushed or pureed tomatoes

Chopped garlic

Fresh parsley

Chilli pepper

Tomato paste

Salt and pepper to taste

Spaghetti

Grated percorino ramano or parmesan cheese for serving

How it is made…

Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onions and stir until lightly golden. Add the garlic and fry for 1 to 2 minutes. Increase the heat to medium-high,add ground beef and cook, stirring for 3-4 mins until the meat is brown.

Add the pureed tomatoes, the dried oregano, beef stock cube, deseeded and finely chopped red chilli, tomato paste. Stir with a wooden spoon, breaking up the plum tomatoes. Reduce to a gentle simmer and cover with a lid. Cook for some minutes stirring occasionally, until you have a rich, thick sauce.

Add the grated parmesan, check the seasoning and stir. When the Bolognese is nearly finished, boil your spaghetti.

Drain the spaghetti and stir into the Bolognese sauce. Serve with more grated parmesan.

This dish is a real crowd-pleaser and loved by adults and kids!

Spaghetti is a dietary source of vitamins, mineral and fibre, especially, if you purchase wholegrain or whole-pasta. The spaghetti bolognese contains magnesium, and magnesium supports metabolism, healthy muscles,  nerves, bones and the heart.
