
Speaking at the Special delegate conference of the union in Kaduna on Monday, Yasin contended that the proposed amendment was in tandem with the union’s constitution which gave them the power to amend when necessary.
He said the amendment would essentially centre on the leadership, saying, nobody in the union will serve more than two terms in office.
The National President also remarked that we are also thinking of creating more offices in each of the six geopolitical zones.
‘This time we will be having three elective representatives in each of the zones, he said.
Earlier, the state chairman of NURTW, Alhaji Alhassan Haruna, implored members to rise up to their responsibilities with the aim of moving the union forward.
He also thanked the National leadership of the union for deeming it fit to build an ultra-modern hotel in the state
Declaring the conference open, governor Nasir El-rufai commended the road transport workers for their contribution to the socioeconomic development of the state, saying, the state government will continue to partner with the union.
Represented by the state commissioner for Work, Housing and Transport, Hajiya Balaraba Inuwa, he said the state government will also recruit members of the union to man it’s Bus Rapid Transport Service (BRTS).
Delegates from all the 36 states of the country and Abuja are attending the two-day conference.
