The Capital City University, Kano, has been granted a full licence to operate as a private university in Nigeria.

This was a sequel to the visitation of a panel of the National Universities Commission (NUC) to the university earlier this month.

A statement signed by the registrar, Hajiya Rakiya Bello Dangado, said the panel was impressed with the standard of the facilities and operational procedures of the new university, which started operation in 2021.

According to the statement, the NUC, therefore, granted a full license to the university in place of the provisional certificate it initially issued the institution.

The statement said: “This outcome is a product of commitment to excellence by the governing council, management and staff of the institution who have been working collectively to create a niche for the university.

“The university, located in the heart of Kano City, is committed to changing the face of education in Kano, Nigeria, and the entire world by continuously improving its infrastructure to meet the ever-changing tertiary educational needs of society.

“A statement from the office of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Yusuf Daraja, congratulates all the stakeholders, particularly the students of the university, on this promising achievement coming within the few years of operation.”
