The Managing Director of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), Oluwaseun Faleye, has pledged to revamp the agency’s claims and compensation processes to better support injured workers with legitimate claims.
This reform aims to facilitate the rehabilitation of injured workers, help them return to their previous jobs or provide them with new skills.
Faleye, during a meeting with the agency’s departmental heads in Abuja, also committed to expediting the claims payment process for those who cannot be rehabilitated.
He said: “My goal is to increase the number of beneficiaries significantly in the near future. We need to enhance our claims processes and procedures to provide broader access to benefits for injured workers registered with the fund. We must strengthen our capacity to achieve more.”
He stressed the importance of greater stakeholder engagement, particularly at the state and local government levels, to ensure compliance with the Employees Compensation Scheme (ECS) and highlight its benefits to employees at these governance levels.
Faleye’s vision includes modernising the agency to ensure it operates as a solvent, efficient organisation capable of delivering Employees’ Compensation effectively.
According to Nwachukwu Godson, General Manager of Corporate Affairs at NSITF, Faleye is committed to aligning the NSITF with global best practice by modernising and digitising its processes.
“Modernising and digitising NSITF’s operations are a top priority to align with contemporary standards,” Faleye stated.
He assured that his administration will address any obstacles to digitisation and also outlined an ambitious plan to revamp the organisation with a focus on digital transformation.
“We must achieve this modernisation without shortcuts or compromises. My goal is to establish a data-driven, customer-centric agency. I will rigorously assess all aspects of the digitisation project and ensure decisions are made impartially and in the best interest of the organisation,” Faleye said.
He emphasised the need for a comprehensive approach to digitisation that integrates and synchronises departmental processes and enhances collaboration with relevant government and non-governmental agencies for effective data sharing.
Faleye noted that improving rehabilitation, compensation and health and safety programmes would support the ECS’s reach and benefits.
The meeting was attended by Adegoke Adedeji, Executive Director of Finance and Investment; Prof. G.O.C. Okenwa, Executive Director of Administration and Mojisolaoluwa Alli-Macaulay, Executive Director of Operations.
