The Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr Muyi Aina, has charged the newly deployed Primary Healthcare Facility Management Officers (PFMOs) to uphold accountability and strengthen oversight in Primary Health Care (PHC) centers within their Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Dr Aina made this call while welcoming the newly recruited PFMOs deployed across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the National flag off and onboarding ceremony in Abuja.
The event themed, “Equipping PFMOs for Effective and Performance Accountability at PHC Level”.
The PFMOs are expected to play a key role in ensuring that PHC centers are well-managed and provide quality healthcare services.
He emphasised the importance of accountability in PHC centers, noting that it is crucial for ensuring quality healthcare delivery.
According to Dr. Aina, the PFMOs have a critical role to play in strengthening oversight and ensuring that PHC centers are well-managed.
“I urge you to uphold accountability and strengthen oversight in PHC centers within your LGAs,” he said.
The NPHCDA ED highlighted the agency’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Nigeria, particularly at the primary healthcare level. He noted that the agency is working tirelessly to ensure that PHC centers are equipped with the necessary resources and infrastructure to provide quality healthcare services.
Dr. Aina also emphasized the importance of collaboration and teamwork in achieving the agency’s goals. He urged the PFMOs to work closely with other stakeholders, including community leaders and healthcare workers, to ensure that PHC centers are responsive to the needs of the communities they serve.
The deployment of PFMOs is part of the NPHCDA’s efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
