Northern Elders urge Nigerians to support constitution review

National Patriotic Elders Forum (NPEF) has called on Nigerians to support the constitutional review and give critical advice where necessary to solve the myriad of problems bedevilling the country.

Making this assertion on Saturday in Kano, the NPEF chairman, Bature Abdulaziz while reading a communique before the press in Kano, stressed the need for the committee to carry the elders along in their deliberation

He emphasised that the committee would do Nigeria good if issues of sensitivity like federalism, state police, local government autonomy and so many other similar issues were trashed with their full consent so that the Nation would feel fully represented.

According to him, “today every part of Nigeria is having one issue or the other that needs to be critically looks into,hence the need for all stakeholders to rally round and give them necessary advises to succeed.”

He, therefore, stated that the Northern Nigeria today among all the regions is the most disturbed part which need serious attention.

AbdulAziz, however disclosed that the issue of poverty facing the Northern part of the is the architect of most problems bedeviling the region

As according to him, poverty, insecurity have taken root,while education is facing decay with hundreds of children rooming about the streets as destitute

AbdulAziz then stressed the need reasons why the region requires special attention in the constitutional review

He then stated that by carrying the elders along through incorporate them to the committee,they would be able to give useful advises that would also assist them in their finding

He, however, added that this is not because they does not have confidence in the deputy speaker , because they know his track records to be clean ,but there still there is need to give the elders chance in their deliberation
