The leadership of North Central Political Frontiers (NCPF) has commended President Bola Tinubu over the appointment of a retired Police Officer, Nuhu Ribadu as National Security Adviser (NSA) as well as Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (NSA).
Chairman of the Group, Shuaibu Mohammed who gave the commendation during a press briefing in Abuja, applauded President Tinubu’s policy on fuel subsidy removal and the planned provision of palliatives to cushion the effects of the policy.
He said: “For the first time since the return of democracy in 1999 we are having a retired police officer as NSA that called for applaud.
“For the first time we are having a Police Officer, it has never been done in this country. For the first time, we are having a balance in power sharing. We need to see Nigeria as a collective project.
“In the press statement that I read, I appealed to Nigerians to bear forth with his excellency because it’s a gradual process. It cannot be magical overnight. It requires your cooperation, my cooperation for him to take us to that prosperity that we all are yearning and anticipating for.
“In addition, the appointment of the Service Chiefs has reflected the federal character so we need to tell him that yes Mr. President you are doing well, continue and we will continue to give you the required support,” he noted.
While commending President Tinubu for exhibiting courage over fuel subsidy removal, he maintained that: “subsidy has been one bottleneck that has denied Nigerians the growth or for her to compete with her sister nations. This subsidy has been invisible over the years, we don’t see but we hear billions of naira being paid, to who? How many President from 1999 till this material time have the courage? The immediate past President has the courage but he had to do it systematically.
“But this is a Democrat who understood what the yearnings, the sufferings of the masses are, that if we continue on this path, we will definitely get to nowhere. I hope you are aware, so far so good, the savings that have been made courtesy the removal of subsidy and in due time everything will reflect in the table of the common man.
“Our President today by the grace of God is a man who listens. When the Economic Council came up with the idea of N8,000 palliatives, Nigerians frowned at it and he retracted it, that is a Leader, and you said we should not applaud such a man? No, no no, we have to,” he noted.
While reacting to the appointment of Senator Akume, the NCPF Chairman observed that: “Progress is a continuous process growth is a continuous process. But what we are saying is, his starting and footing that he has put forth has indicated that he is a round peg in a round hole. And that is why today the leadership of the North Central Political Frontier are gathered here to celebrate Mr. President to say thank you for acknowledging and believing in one of our own, Senator George Akume who is the secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“As a Zone that is strategic in economic and political landscape. We pledged our unalloyed and unflinching support For the ‘Renewed Hope Mantra’ of HE. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR led administration, as a People of the North Central States.

“On behalf of the North Central Political Frontiers we congratulate our very own for a well deserved national appointment in the heart of Government operations, HE. Senator (Dr.) George Akume (CON) as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Federal Republic of Nigeria.
