Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Charles Mmaduka, popularly known as Pitakwa, has revealed that “life hasn’t really been the same without” Esther Eze, his soul mate, who died 10 years ago, saying “I love her even in death.”
The actor said, Queen, as he fondly called Esther, was his girlfriend during his undergraduate days as a Geology student at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University and she was a Nursing student of Madonna University.
He narrated that on the 15th of December, 2012, Esther was visiting a friend in Owerri and it happened that there was a robbery going on around that area, and the robbers were shooting sporadically and Esther was hit by a stray bullet.
“She fought to stay alive while the doctors demanded for a police extract before they could commence treatment on her,” he said.
“Nma was a strong girl. She fought. But alas! She lost the battle. I cried till my tear glands ruptured and I had no more tears left to shed.”
Mmaduka said that sometimes when people come into your life, their purpose is to either become a blessing or a lesson, but some people are not just both blessings and lessons, they go further to impact your life positively that even when they are long gone, the fire they light in you is never extinguished.
“Good things don’t last and nice people sometimes don’t live out their full potentials on earth,” he lamented. “But I was lucky and blessed to have met one of such beautiful souls.”
He said Esther was a combination of beauty and brains, an epitome of selflessness who was nice to a fault. Very loving, caring and romantic. And that she was more than he ever wanted in a woman.
“If death were to be human, ‘I for don mark em face tey-tey’, but I can’t question God who gives and takes,” he said.
However, he said he is consoled by the fact that Esther fulfilled one of her important tasks in life: “to mould Amala Charles Mmaduka into the Pitakwa you see today.”
