National Orientation Agency (NOA) says it is adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a new strategy for information dissemination.
Its Director General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, made this known at a town hall meeting in Ibadan on Thursday.
Issa-Onilu, who spoke through the State Director, Oyo State, Mrs Siimiatu Ajolayo, said AI would be adopted in the dissemination of information in areas such as national value reorientation for students of secondary and tertiary institutions against ‘sign-out extreme practices’, enlightenment on government policies, programmes and activities, the national identity project and national symbols, flood mitigation, as well as national security awareness.
According to him, “In the current dispensation, we have reinvigorated our website, www.noa.gov.ng; we have equally deployed an Artificial Intelligence persona, which we call CLHEEAN, on our website.
“This, in addition to our presence on all social media platforms, has enabled us to meet the information needs, especially of the younger generation,” he said.
The DG also said that the Federal Government had been spending heavily to lessen the economic burden on the citizenry.
He also spoke about the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), social safety net, National Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), and the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), adding that billions of naira had been pumped into the programmes.
Issa-Onilu explained that the five areas the agency had highlighted would be addressed through campaigns by press conferences, town hall meetings, advocacy visits, and visits to schools, traditional rulers, motor parks and markets.
Present at the meeting were representatives of security agencies, religious and traditional rulers, trade unions, market leaders, and other interest groups.
