THE Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has warned six Council Area bosses and traditional chiefs within the territory that none of them has power to allocate land in the area.
“No Area Council Chairman, no Chief has rights to allocate land in the FCT. There is nothing like Area Council land. There is nothing like Chief land”, the FCTA further warned.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja, the FCT Director of Land Administration, Malam Adamu Jibril Hussaini, said only the FCT Minister has constitutional power to allocate land, because the power to allocate land within the territory was vested in the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which the latter has been delegated to the minister.
He further warned unsuspecting land dealers of the activities of land speculators, asserting that the power of FCT Minister to allocate land was vested in the President of Nigeria, who as constitutional Governor of FCT, in turn delegates same to the Minister alone, not even the Minister of State for FCT.
Also speaking, the Director of Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS), Dr Isa Jalo said the institution has generated over N600 million between December, 2016 and January, 2017.
Dr Jalo said the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has approved over N100 million to settle the organisation’s liabilities and for the development of a storage facility which was domiciled out of the institution’s premises for safety.
