No community would be left inaccessible to health facilities — Zamfara agency

The Executive Secretary of Zamfara State Primary HealthCare Development Agency (ZSPHCD), Dr Hussaini Yakubu Anka assured that no community would be left inaccessible to health facilities as the state government planned to rehabilitate and equip 704 primary healthcare facilities and recruit more health workers across the 14 local government areas.

This was disclosed Saturday during the closing remarks at the end of 5 days of training of trainers for front-line healthcare workers which started last Monday on clinical competencies to improve health outcomes held at Karma Hotel in Gusau, the state capital.

The executive secretary of ZSPHCD lauded the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Health, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and US President Malaria Initiative for state project (US PMI-S) in their efforts to reform the Primary Healthcare sector in the state and country.

The training was in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and the US President Malaria Initiative for State Project (US PMI-S) aiming to strengthen the capacity of health workers in the state and country at large.

According to the Executive Secretary, there are 147 wards in Zamfara, 704 primary health facilities, 24 secondary and 2 tertiary health facilities in the state, “all frontline health workers who are the participants of the Training of Trainers (STOT) are drawn from 14 Local government and also believes that they are the right people selected and they are equal to the task.”

He revealed that the state government has it on a budget to rehabilitate and equip 704 primary health care facilities, recruit more health workers and build residential quarters to ease accommodation difficulty in the state.

Dr Hussaini Anka commended Minister  Ali Pate, the Federal Ministry of Health and NPHCDA under the leadership of Dr Muyi Aina, encouraging them not to leave any stone unturned until they achieve the target objective.

The Executive Secretary assured the Federal Ministry of Health/NPHCDA of the state’s overwhelming support when the need arises.

In his remarks, the National facilitator of NPHCDA, Ahmed Ibrahim, said the training programme will boost the efforts of the participants who would go down to further train other health workers in the state.

He urged the participants to do the needful and take what they have learned down to all fourteen local government areas in the state.
