The management of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has stated that no amount of blackmail and moves by some elements to cast aspersions on the integrity of the fund will deter it from sticking to all processes, procedures, and rules and regulations guiding its activities.
The Director-General of the fund, Sir Joseph Ari stated this during the 2021 half-year and 3rd quarter performance review meeting of the organisation with the theme:” Target Setting and Achievements in a Post Covid-19 Era: The Way Forward for ITF” on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Fund in Jos, Plateau State.
He said it was in appreciation of ITF compliance to due process that the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences (ICPC) named the Fund as the most ethics compliant and integrity Agency among the 352 federal government ministries, departments surveyed by the Commission in 2020.
“We are hopeful of carting home the award again this year, as we have continued and will always administer the Fund on the path of financial integrity and in compliance with all government regulations and processes, and shall not be distracted by mischief makers and detractors,” he said.
On the allegation of non-utilisation of capital votes, Sir Ari told those behind the failed protest against the organisation in Abuja recently to visit the fund nine-story Lagos Island Area office, Katsina Area office complex and Vocational wing, Mechatronics workshop and Administrative at the Industrial Skill Training Centre Kano and others who were recently commissioned by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Otunba Niyi Adebayo and his counterpart, the Hon Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment Ambassador Mariam Yalwaji Katagun respectively.
According to him, rather than being distracted by detractors, the management of the Fund will continue to follow the path of integrity and fiscal discipline as it strives to develop ITF through the parsimonious application of the resources available.
The Director-General who assured that ITF will remain focused in pursuance of its mandates stated that his desire and management is to see the Fund compete favourably with other learning and developed agencies worldwide.
” I would also like to see an ITF that grows not just into a household name where every young Nigerian would see as a pride of place to belong to in terms of actualising his or her career prospects,” he said.
