NNPP will defeat APC, PDP in free, fair elections — Kwankwaso

As momentum continues to gather towards the 2027 general elections, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) national leader and former presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has predicted that his party, under free, fair and credible elections will win the 2027 presidential elections.

The former governor of Kano State made the remarks during the party’s 8th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting which was held at three Bolingo Hotel on Thursday in Abuja.

Kwankwaso said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has not only spread poverty in the land but has made Nigeria insecure for the citizens as banditry, kidnappings and ritual killings have become the order of the day.

He, however, urged Nigerians to look at the perspective of the sufferings they are passing through to give the NNPP the chance to govern the country and deliver the needed democratic dividends they have lacked under APC.

“We are all aware of the difficulties APC and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are facing. I believe if there is a free and fair election in this country, NNPP will defeat the APC, PDP and other parties in this country.

“We want to thank all Nigerians for supporting our party. We are all aware of the difficulties PDP is facing, and all the challenges APC is facing. Because we all know that it is very difficult to remember anybody who is happy with the government of APC at all levels, especially at the national level.

“Nigerians are being faced with some difficulties that we’ve never seen in the history of this country. Poverty is everywhere. We have seen insecurity, especially in Northern Nigeria. Infrastructure has been decayed and we’ve not seen any effort to renew them and so on and so forth.

“And therefore our party has the golden opportunity because I believe there is a free and fair election in this country, our party will defeat the APC, the PDP and the other parties in this country,” he said.

The former Minister of Defence said it was because of the capacity and viability of the party that some expelled members were making some claims against the party to distract it just as he described their actions of the few persons as a big joke and also promised to continue to work with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deepen Nigeria democracy.

“Let me assure you that from our own level, we will continue to give what it takes for the success of our party at the national level. But I also want to appeal to our leaders from various states, local government and wards and all our structures across the country to continue to work harder.

“We should continue to have unity of purpose so that at the end of the day the party can win the election in 2027,’’ he added.

Also speaking at the event, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, who was represented by his deputy, Abdulsalam Aminu Gwarzo, urged the Federal and state governments to make education as priority as well as human capacity development.

According to the governor, Kano under his leadership had been a source of reference for other states in the country in terms of education, women empowerment and infrastructural development.

“We are so proud of what is happening in Kano. Not even a state can march it. Education for all is the slogan of our party. Education this year, received 31 per cent of the total budget of Kano State. No state has been able to achieve that on the platform of any political platform in this country,’’ the governor said.

The meeting, which had in attendance National Working Committee (NWC) members, National Assembly and Kano State House of Assembly members, commissioners and party members across the six geopolitical zones of the country, ratified and extended the tenure of caretaker committees for Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Gombe and Taraba States.

The meeting also ratified the appointment of Caretaker committees for the Oyo state chapter of the party for six months or pending the appointment of substantive executive members for the state.
