NNPC: ACF calls on Nigerians to support Kida, Ojulari

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called on Nigerians to support the appointment of Ahmad Musa Kida as the new board chairman and Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) to pilot the affairs of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.

This was contained in a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the forum, Professor Tukur Muhammad Baba, and made available to newsmen in Kaduna on Thursday.

The statement noted that “particularly pleasing is that all the new appointees are well-qualified industry experts with decades of hands-on professional and unblemished experience, in both public and private segments of the oil and gas sector of the national political economy.

“Equally heartwarming is that the appointments of the new team, both Northerners, reflect a needed national spread, proving the point that all sections of Nigeria are endowed with great human resources that can be deployed to pilot the affairs of any and all sectors for the good of society.

“ACF commends the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Administration for this confidence-inspiring initiative. It is indeed a fresh breath of affairs for Nigeria, as indeed reflected in the widespread welcome that the appointments continue to receive.

“It is our belief that the duo and teams will justify the confidence reposed in them by the President.

“While confident in the capacity and capability of the new teams to deliver on their mandate, ACF prays for the team to be guided by nothing but patriotism, accountability, and the universal principles of good corporate governance and social responsibility.

“ACF makes this fervent wish cognisant of the many needless controversies that enveloped this national asset over time. We wish them all the very best, even as we charge that the new teams cannot and should not disappoint.

“We also call on all Nigerians to give them the needed support,” the statement declared.”
