The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has given the management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) a 24-hour ultimatum to reinstate all its staff that were retrenched.
The state chairman, Comrade Kayode Martins gave the marching order while receiving the affected workers at the Labour House in Ibadan on Monday.
Martins who described the sack of the affected workers as worrisome lamented over the treatment meted out to them.
He submitted the level of exploitation of the outsourced staff by their respective agents especially the deduction of their salaries is against the labour law.
He, therefore, appealed to the security agencies in the state to come to the aid of the sacked staff noting that it is unlawful for employee to pay less than minimum wage to their employed staff in the state.
The affected staff, in the past two weeks, had been protesting over poor remuneration and unfair treatment by the management of the IBEDC.
The leadership of the NLC in the state waded into the matter with an assurance that all the issues raised would be addressed.
However, the aggrieved workers submitted that instead of looking into their grievances, their appointments were unjustly terminated.
The affected workers are now seeking the intervention of the NLC to remedy the situation.
