NiMet predicts cloudy, rainy, thundery weather for Wednesday

THE Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy morning over the Central States of the Country on Wednesday with chances of localised thunderstorms over Yola and Mambilla Plateau.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office on Tuesday in Abuja also predicted day and night temperatures of 30 to 36 and 19 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

It added that localised thunderstorms would prevail around Abuja, Jos, Lafia, Makurdi and Lokoja later in the day.

The agency predicted that the southern states would experience morning cloudy skies and localised showers over Calabar and Uyo with day and night temperatures of 32 to 35 and 23 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

It also predicted chances of localised thunderstorms over Enugu, Abakaliki, Owerri, Awka, Benin, Akure, Ado-Ekiti, Osogbo, Ijebu Ode, Lagos, Portharcourt and Abeokuta in the afternoon and evening hours.

According to NiMet, Northern States will experience partly cloudy conditions with prospects of localised thunderstorms over Southern Borno, Bauchi and Gombe in the afternoon and evening.

“The region will also have day and night temperatures of 35 to 42 and 24 to 29 degrees Celsius respectively.

“Thunderstorms are anticipated in most places across the country mostly in the afternoon in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.
