National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced the successful migration of all telecommunications companies in Nigeria to its newly developed National Identification Number authentication platform, known as NINAuth.

According to a statement signed by the Commission’s Head of Corporate Communications, Dr Kayode Adegoke, the transition to the NINAuth platform marks a significant stride in the country’s efforts to enhance the security, efficiency, and reliability of NIN verification services across the telecoms sector.

Designed and implemented by NIMC’s Information Technology and Identity Database Department, the NINAuth platform allows for seamless and secure identity verification.

It empowers Nigerians by placing greater control over personal data in the hands of NIN holders while enabling telcos to offer uninterrupted verification services for activities such as SIM registration, swap, migration, and welcome-back requests.

“The platform enhances data protection, provides seamless verification, and allows convenient sign-on access to services,” said Engr. Lanre Yusuf, Director of IT/IDD at NIMC, confirmed that the migration of all telecom firms to the platform has been completed successfully.

With the deployment now complete, NIMC advised members of the public experiencing issues related to new SIM registration, SIM swap, SIM migration, or SIM retrieval to contact their respective telecommunications service providers, as these are now under the purview of the telcos.

“The Commission wishes to assure the general public that the verification and authentication service platforms are fully functional and accessible to all,” the statement added.
