Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, has declared that to address the many-faceted challenges facing the country, there must be collective efforts between the Federal Government and the sub nationals on various economic policies that have direct bearing on the lives of the masses.
The Governor made the declaration while addressing members of the National Council on Finance and Economic Development (NACOFED), led by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of France, Dr Wale Edun, during their meeting in Bauchi on Monday.
Bala Mohammed said that resources must be channelled to the critical sectors of road infrastructure, health, education, agriculture, commerce, and industry, youth development, and women’s empowerment, among others.
He said that the administration, in partnership with the Federal Government and other donor partners, immediately after the removal of the fuel subsidy, embarked on efforts to cushion the effects of the suffering on the people.
Bala Mohammed also urged members of the Council as experts in their fields to deliberate on issues that will affect Nigerians positively for rapid socio-economic growth and development of the country.
The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Wale Edun, said that various challenges facing the country, particularly economic policies, would be in line with the renewed hope agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration, which is targeted at improving the living standards of the people.
The Minister assured that the various reforms in the country’s economy by the present administration will surely yield positive results.
He enjoined the general public to support the efforts of the administration in spite of the hardship, which he said the government is well aware of and is doing everything possible to bring it to an end shortly.
Earlier, when he paid a courtesy visit to the governor, Dr. Wale Edun commended Sen Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for transforming Bauchi State into a thriving business hub.
He acknowledged the state’s remarkable progress, stressing that it is a model of emulation by other states.
In his response, Bala Mohammed emphasised the need for effective utilisation of Nigeria’s oil and gas resources to benefit the masses, just as he advocated for inclusive governance, stakeholding, and partnership to promote accountability, transparency, equity, and justice.
This pivotal meeting held in Bauchi solidifies the state’s position as a key player in Nigeria’s economic growth and development.”
