Nigerians are yearning for change ― Benue deputy gov

Deputy Governor of Benue State, Benson Abounu, has said that Nigerians are yearning for change due to the maladministration of the present government.

Abounu who was speaking to newsmen in Makurdi, on Tuesday, however, gave the assurance that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party would give the desired good leadership.

He said that the emergence of former Senate President, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, as the national chairman of the party had rekindled hope for PDP to clinch power in 2023.

Abounu said with the emergence of Ayu many governors from the ruling All Progressive Congress will soon join PDP.

He said that PDP had repositioned itself to provide good leadership, adding that many Nigerians were already disenchanted with the manner the country is being administered under the All Progressive Congress.

“The level of insecurity is felt everywhere in the country, if you follow what people are saying now you will think that some people in certain areas will not be saying such thing like they are really yearning for a change and calling names saying things are not correct and not being handled well by the present administration.

“The quarter where these things are coming from is giving me hope that Nigerians are united this time around in looking out for good leadership.

“Nigerians are already aware that PDP will give good leadership, they know that the party to form government in 2023 at the centre is PDP.

“Nigerian know it I can assure you that between now and June next year you will see a lot of changes especially with the emergence of Dr Iyorchia Ayu as the national chairman, things are already changing some governors are coming back to join us and many people are going to fall in line with PDP,” Abounu said.
