Nigerian Tribune reporter wins N1m Pius Akutah Prize for Maritime Reporter Award

Nigerian Tribune Maritime Reporter, Tola Adenubi, on Tuesday won the N1 million cash prize for the Pius Akutah Best Maritime Reporter of the Year award at the 27th edition of the Maritime Industry Merit Awards (MIMA) held in Lagos.

Presenting the award, the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Dr. Pius Akutah—represented by a Director in the Council, Mr. Moses Abere—explained that the award was in recognition of impactful maritime journalism.

The award ceremony also saw terminal operators, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) officials, customs brokers, among others, win awards in various categories.

Notable awardees included the West African Container Terminal (WACT), Sifax Group, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs Dera Nnadi, Customs Area Controller for Apapa Command Babatunde Olomu, Vice President of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Olusegun Oduntan, Lagos Area Manager of NIWA Engineer Sarat Braimah, General Manager of LASWA Damilola Emmanuel, Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Abubakar Dantsoho, and frontline tourism expert Frank Meke, among others.
