Nigerian lawyer and media personality, Ariyike Akinbobola has been named among Canada’s top 100 black women to watch in 2024.

Akinbobola recently received this recognition from the Canada International Black Women Excellence (CIBWE), an organisation that celebrates exceptional black women in the country.

According to a statement by Akinbobola’s media team, which was seen by Tribune Online, the Nigerian lawyer received the CIBWE recognition for her outstanding professional achievements and impactful contributions in Canada.

“Ariyike Akinbobola was honoured as one of 100 Black women who are breaking barriers, reshaping narratives across diverse fields, and exemplifying excellence and dedication.

“With over 15 years of experience in consulting, strategic partnerships, legal, business immigration, communications, media, government, compliance, and nonprofit work, Akinbobola has built a multifaceted career,” the statement read.

Currently, Akinbobola serves as a U.S. business immigration lead analyst in an immigration firm based in Toronto, focusing on US consular applications and client engagements within the Americas.

Beyond her professional roles, Akinbobola has made significant strides as a writer and an advocate. In Canada, she has been celebrated for her authorship and community involvement.

Her book ‘Beautifully Coloured – A Children’s Picture Book on Kindness, Diversity, Inclusion and Positive Affirmations’ became the number 1 Amazon Bestseller under Inclusive education.

She received the Canadian Choice Award for Author in Hamilton and was acknowledged by Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) Skelly for ‘Beautifully Coloured’.

Her work in community service has also earned her recognition from Ontario’s MPP Smith and the Mayor of Brampton, Patrick Brown.

Akinbobola is working on her next book ‘One Way Ticket to Canada and Other Diaspora Stories.’
