A high-level Nigerian delegation, led by the Amir (National Head) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria, Alhaji Azeez Alatoye, will be joining thousands of participants from across the globe at the Annual Convention (Jalsa Salana) of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, United Kingdom, taking place in Surrey, England.
The convention will run from today to Sunday at Oakland Farm, Surrey.
A statement issued by the head of media of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, Dr Qasim Akinreti, said the delegation from Nigeria includes members of the Executive Committee and the auxiliary organisations of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria.
Notable figures among them are Alhaji Dauda Raji (Head, Elders’ Group), Comrade Hassan Sunmonu (Chancellor, Minaret University, Ikirun), Professor Abdullah Abdul Rahman (Vice Chancellor, Minaret University), Professor Mashood Fashola, former Amir and current Secretary for External Affairs, and Chief Adetoyese Kareem Lawal, the Eesa of Ikirun and a traditional leader.
Representatives from the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and TVC Communications are also part of the delegation.
Akinreti’s statement said: “During the convention, the Amir will formally present the licence for the newly established Minaret University, Ikirun, Africa’s first secular university affiliated with the global Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, to Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, the worldwide Head of the Community.
“Jalsa Salana is a unique gathering that attracts over 35,000 participants from more than 90 countries.
“It serves as a platform for deepening religious understanding, promoting peaceful coexistence and strengthening community bonds.
“Throughout the three-day event, eminent speakers will address a variety of religious and social topics and their relevance in contemporary society. The convention will also host several parliamentarians, diplomats and civic leaders from various nations who will speak to the assembly, highlighting the event’s focus on unity, tolerance, and mutual respect.

“A special highlight of the convention is the continuous presence of Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who delivers addresses on each of the three days. His speeches provide invaluable insight into Islamic teachings and their application in modern life.”
It added: “The programme opens today, with a Jumu’ah (Friday) prayer led by the spiritual leader of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. Saturday will feature the keynote address on the global progress of the Community in its mission to propagate Islam. Dedicated sessions and speeches will also be held for the women’s wing of the conference.
“On Sunday, the convention will culminate in a spiritual highlight, a Bai’at (pledge of allegiance) ceremony, in which members from across the world renew their commitment to serving Allah and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. This will be followed by the closing address from Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad.
“Also on Sunday, a historical panel discussion titled ‘Propagation of Islam: Ahmadiyya Contributions from London to the World’ will take place. The session will explore the role of the Community in advancing the spread of Islam globally.
“Panelists include Dr. Qasim Akinreti (Lead, Ahmadiyya History Compilation Committee, Nigeria), Alyas Munir (Head, Ahmadiyya History Department, Germany), Naseer Dean (Naib Amir, UK), Raheel Ahmad (Head, History Desk, UK) and Yahya Luqman (Missionary, USA).
“All have contributed significantly to the compilation of the history of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany.”
