Nigerian-born drummer and cultural advocate, Adeniyi Adekoya, has hosted the debut edition of Drum Dialogue & Rhythm Exchange in Sheffield, United Kingdom on Tuesday, March 26, 2025,
The event brought together music lovers, cultural enthusiasts, and young creatives in a dynamic space where rhythm became a language of healing, connection, and self-expression.
Held at Pirates sheffied , the gathering featured live drumming sessions, open rhythm circles, and personal stories shared through beats. More than just a performance, Drum Dialogue & Rhythm Exchange aimed to highlight the therapeutic power of drumming, particularly in addressing emotional stress, anxiety, and depression.
The initiative struck a chord with the younger generation. Many first-time participants especially children and teens had the opportunity to try their hands on drums, discovering the joy and power that comes from creating rhythm together.
Adekoya, who has toured globally as a professional drummer and is known for using music as a bridge between cultures, shared his vision for the project:
“This is more than entertainment. It’s about connection, mental wellbeing, expression and cultural preservation through rhythm.”
The energy in the room was electric, with spontaneous collaborations and moments of reflection blending into the overall flow of the event. Feedback from attendees praised the emotional depth, authenticity, and inclusive nature of the experience.
Adeniyi Drumz who started his career in Nigeria from a young age with makeshift drums has become widely known in Nigeria and in the United Kingdom
Following the success of the Sheffield edition, Adeniyi plans to host similar sessions across the U.K., including rhythm therapy workshops, school-based cultural exchange programs, and youth-focused drumming events.
