The Nigerian Army has assured Nigerians that the service, under the stewardship of the incumbent Chief of Army Staff ( COAS) Major General Farouk Yahaya is resolutely determined more than ever before to defend the territorial integrity of the nation at all cost.
It added that the nascent level of collaboration among the Services and various security agencies are yielding results across all the frontiers of operation within the country.
The Outgoing Acting Commander, Training and Doctrine Command of the Service( NA) Maj Gen Victor Ezugwu gave the assurance in his remarks at the Inter-denominational Church Service held at the Saint Luke’s Military Protestants Church, Minna Cantonment on Sunday as part of the activities marking the 2021 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) which was kicked- started with a Juma’at service last Friday among other activities line up for the celebration.
Maj Gen Ezugwu, now the Commander, Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, in Abuja, seized the occasion to pay a glowing tribute to the fond memories of the immediate past Chief of Army Staff, late Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, in conjunction with other 11 Officers of the Service who died in a plane crash on Friday, 21 May 2021.
He however described the death of the erstwhile Chief of Army Staff {COAS}Lt. Gen. Attahiru( deceased) and 11 others in the ill-fated Place crash on that fateful day on their way to Kaduna from Abuja while on an Official assignment as an unfortunate incident, adding that “it was a dark Friday in the recent history of the Nigerian Army”.
