The Chairman, Senate Committee on Labour, Employment, and Productivity, and also Vice-Chairman of Federal Character, Senator Diket Plang, has extolled the invaluable contributions of the founding fathers of Nigeria for laying a solid and formidable foundation for the country.
According to him, if not for their efforts, the prevailing unity and togetherness would have been shattered, adding that despite the present challenges besetting the country, Nigeria still remains a force to be reckoned with in the community of nations.
The senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District of Plateau State, in a statement, urged Nigerians to exercise patience with its leaders in their bid to transform the country, assuring citizens that the nation will overcome the myriad of challenges currently confronting it.
Senator Plang, who said the present administration needs the prayers and support of all at this crucial moment, added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his team are leaving no stone unturned to get the country out of the woods.
“Nigeria is definitely on the path of economic progress, but all of us must be ready to sacrifice. Nigeria will rise again; the present administration is certainly not folding its hands amidst the challenges besetting the country. It is a national-accumulated problem that would require patience and understanding of Nigeria to address.
“Most of these problems have been unattended for several years. However, this administration, under the watch of President Tinubu, is putting in place a sustainable plan for economic stability and growth. I want to appeal to Nigerians not to despair but rather to be hopeful. Nigeria will work again, but all hands must be on deck.
“At 64, we need to preach peace and unity, and avoid faulty lines like religion, ethnicity or any sentiment that may bring divisions. Let’s imbibe part of our national anthem which says ‘Though tribe, tongue and religion may defer, in brotherhood we stand”.
