Founder of the Nigerian Humanitarian Awards & Magazine, Mr. Emmanuel Anabueze, has called on Nigerians to embrace service to humanity as a national responsibility, stressing that the country requires more humanitarians than politicians to overcome its pressing challenges.
Speaking at the 2025 Nigerian Humanitarian Awards & Magazine ceremony held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, Anabueze said Nigeria is blessed with abundant human and natural resources but continues to struggle because the culture of selfless giving and people-centered service has not been deeply embraced.
“Our nation does not lack politicians; what it lacks are true humanitarians. Nigeria needs more men and women who can give selflessly, who can invest in healthcare, education, empowerment, child protection, and community development. If we must secure the future, we must secure humanity first,” he stated.
The ceremony brought together a diverse gathering of government representatives, private sector leaders, nonprofit organizations, and community-based actors who were recognized for their outstanding contributions to humanity. The event, which has grown into one of the nation’s most prestigious humanitarian platforms, celebrated individuals and organizations working across various sectors—from healthcare and youth empowerment to education, women’s development, poverty alleviation, and social inclusion.
In his remarks, Anabueze commended all the awardees for their tireless sacrifices and reminded them that their recognition serves as an encouragement to continue the good work.
“These awards are not just plaques or titles; they are symbols of hope. Each awardee is a reminder that there are still men and women in Nigeria who are willing to put others before themselves. Tonight, we celebrate you all—not just for what you have done, but for the lives you have touched, the communities you have uplifted, and the future you are helping to build,” he noted.
He further emphasized that humanitarian work is not charity but an essential ingredient of national progress, urging both public and private stakeholders to invest more in the humanitarian space.
“Humanitarian service is the foundation of peace, stability, and sustainable growth. If more Nigerians dedicate themselves to this cause, we would change the story of our nation. These awards are therefore not the end of a journey, but the beginning of a movement to inspire more humanitarians across the country,” Anabueze said.
The Nigerian Humanitarian Awards & Magazine continues to stand as a beacon of recognition, encouraging citizens to embrace compassion, generosity, and responsibility in nation-building
