The 10th National Assembly, House of Representatives Committee on Nigeria-China Parliamentary Relations, has inaugurated a technical planning committee to organise the Nigeria-China Sustainable Trade, Investment and Bilateral Relations Summit, 2025.
This move is aimed at strengthening the economic ties between Nigeria and China, a leading global economic power and key business partner.
The Committee, chaired by Hon. Jafaru Yakubu, has appointed Merited Negotiation Consulting to coordinate and organize the summit, which will be held in two phases: the Nigeria Summit in the 2nd quarter of 2025 and the China Summit in the 3rd quarter of 2025.
The summit aims to present credible investment opportunities, foster collaboration, and promote products in key areas such as Agriculture, Mining and Solid Minerals, Power and Renewable Energy, Oil and Gas and Construction and Civil Works.
Technical committees comprising representatives from the China Embassy, Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA), and Ministry of Foreign Affairs will work together to ensure the success of the summit.
Private sector organizations, including the China Chamber of Commerce, Lagos Chamber of Commerce, Kano State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA), and Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), have also pledged their support for the summit.
The Chinese Ambassador has promised technical and related support for the summit, while the Director General, the China Chamber of Commerce, has assured the involvement of strategic Chinese companies in Nigeria.
