The Niger South Senior Stakeholders have called for the swift completion of the Lapai-Agaie-Bida road in Niger State to curb the rising number of accidents along the route.
This appeal was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the Interim Coordinator of the forum and Santurakin Nupe, Dr. Mohammed Kudu Santuraki.
According to the statement, the forum lamented that despite the recent rehabilitation of the Lambata-Lapai road, the deteriorating condition of the Lapai-Agaie-Bida section has led to significant loss of life in recent times.

Dr. Santuraki, a former Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) and the current Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, referenced a recent tragic road accident on the Lapai-Agaie road, which claimed 13 lives.
Highlighting the heartbreaking loss of three members from the same family, he stressed the urgent need for immediate rehabilitation of this critical road.
“Tragically, one Alhaji Adamu Ndache lost two wives and his eldest daughter in a horrific accident on the Lapai-Agaie road recently. Another daughter is currently hospitalized and recovering. In total, about 13 lives were lost in that single accident,” he stated.
“This tragedy underscores the urgency of fixing our roads—an issue I recently raised concerning the federal government’s budget proposal for road repairs in Niger State. Bad roads claim lives daily, and because every human life is valuable, fixing all roads must be a priority,” he added.
