The Niger State Scholarship Board (NSSB) has launched a new online portal designed to facilitate the registration process for students in tertiary institutions seeking to benefit from the state scholarships board.

The opening ceremony was led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Alhaji Surajo Saidu, who emphasized the portal’s significance in improving accessibility for students to secure scholarships.

He advised students to take advantage of this opportunity, highlighting the two-week registration period starting from January 15, 2025,adding that this initiative is inclusive of all academic disciplines and aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by students.

Alhaji Saidu expressed gratitude to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for his support and commitment to the Niger State Scholarships Board, particularly in ensuring timely disbursement of funds for students support.

In his address, the Executive Secretary of the Niger State Scholarship Board,Comrade Usman Muhammad Sani, outlined the portal’s benefits, which include a feedback mechanism and the dissemination of important academic information through social media.

Sani encouraged students to register for the scholarship to enhance their educational experience.

He noted that last year, approximately 17,000 students received financial assistance from the state government, adding that with the implementation of the new registration portal, it is anticipated that even more students will benefit.

The Director of ICT at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, Ibrahim Baba Gaba provided insights into the portal’s functionality, stating that it allows students to easily input their information, which will assist the scholarship board in processing payments effectively.

The launch event was attended by various student representative union executives, who were given the opportunity to ask questions and gain further information about the new registration platform.
