Niger Republic community honours Yobe Gov, Buni, with traditional title

The Peace Ambassadors of Abzinawa Damagaram, Zeinder, Niger Republic, on Friday, conferred the traditional title of “Sarkin Yakin Zaman lafiya” for Nigeria and Niger Republic on the Governor of Yobe State, Honourable Mai Mala Buni.

According to Mr Abdullahi Ibrahim, the leader of the delegation, the title was bestowed in recognition of Governor Buni’s efforts in promoting peace and peaceful coexistence between communities in Nigeria and the Niger Republic.

“We have deemed it necessary to honour you with this title due to the peaceful coexistence and infrastructural development in the border communities, which are also enjoyed by communities in the Niger Republic.

Your achievements in healthcare delivery, road network, and economic development are being appreciated by our communities in Niger Republic,” Abdullahi stated.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Buni expressed his commitment to continue fostering peace between the two countries.

“We are brothers who were separated by colonial boundaries, and that should not make us enemies. I will continue to encourage peaceful coexistence among our communities and countries,” Governor Buni assured.

It is worth noting that Governor Buni was previously bestowed with the National Honour of “Commandeur dans l’ordre du merit du Niger” by the Government of Niger Republic in December last year, in recognition of his contribution to the improved diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
