The Long arms of the Law have caught up with three suspected armed robbers in Niger State following their arrest by Police Operatives attached to Tafa Division of the state Police Command and the recovery of two fire arms from the suspects .
The suspects identified as Suleiman Yahaya, 21, Umar Suleiman, 25, and Khalifa Abdulrahaman, 18,all of Deidei area ,Abuja and were arrested on 06/08/2023 at about 2350hrs, by Police operatives attached to Tafa Div while on routine patrol around Lolo Layout, Dakwa area of the Council while responding to a distress call of an attempted robbery on the street in the area.
The Police Public Relations Officer, in charge of the State Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun stated this in a Crime Bulletin issued by him and made available to Journalists on Wednesday in Minna, adding that on sighting the Police team, the robbery suspects were said to have taken to their heels, following which they were pursued and trailed to a tea seller kiosk around Nato garage, Deidei Abuja.
DSP Wasiu Abiodun however noted that during interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to being members of a robbery syndicate who specializes interrorising Dakwa, Deidei and its environ, stressing that they allegedly mentioned three others who escaped arrest by the Police Operatives and were still at large and identified as Hassan, Lamar, and Bakano.
The Crime Bulletin emphasised that while a search was conducted in the kiosk that the following items were recovered from them ; One double-barrel pump action gun, One locally fabricated gun, 264 wraps of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, One cutlass, knife, and three scissors , One white t-shirt and a vigilante shirt were recovered.
He however assured that the three suspected robbery syndicate will soon be transferred to SCID Minna for discreet investigation and effort is ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang
