The personnel of NSCDC Niger State Command, on routine surveillance acting based on credible Intelligence, have apprehended one Mallam Nura Suleiman (M), age 43yrs an Islamic teacher, for molesting his student named Isah Muazu, aged 8yrs.
The teacher, Malam Nura Suleiman, was arrested on Friday, 19th January 2024, in his Tsangaya Makaranta(Quranic School) Mallam Umar, located behind Niger Motel Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State, and the victims were rescued as well.
This was contained in a Press statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC,Niger State Command,SC Nasir A. Abdullahi, a copy of which was made available to journalists on Wednesday in Minna, adding that the molested child Isah Mu’azu was rushed to the General Hospital Suleja for urgent medical attention following the degrees of injuries observed in his body and was admitted based on the magnitude of the injuries sustained.
The statement revealed that further investigation revealed that, the children under the care of Mallam Nura Suleiman are minors and vulnerably exposed to danger of being infected by communicable diseases.
The statement added that It was also discovered that four other children were under the care of same Mallam Nura Suleiman,hilighting that all of them are natives of Kawo, in Kaduna State.
According to the statement, “The other four Children in his custody were also found with scars on their back which could be evidence that the said Mallam Nura Suleiman has allegedly been molesting them.
“Investigation further revealed that Isah Mu’azu hails from Kawo, Kaduna State as well as the other four children namely:
Khalipha Abdullahi, Salihu Suleiman, Mohammed Mu’azu and Ismaila Abdullahi.
The suspect and the victims were said to have been handed over to Child Rights Agency, under the Governor’s Office in Niger State for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Meanwhile, the State Commandant NSCDC Niger State Command, Commandant Joanchin Okafor has said that the NSCDC, in the state under his watch will ensure maximum protection of children and warned other Mallams to desist from molesting children under their care or face the full wrath of the law.
